Pictures Problem Solved!

I found an awesome plugin called Fotobook that imports your Facebook pictures into Wordpress! How fab! This is EXACTLY what I’ve needed! I always post my pictures to Facebook since everyone does the social neworking thing, and it’s the best place to share them… so now I can document the pictures alongside this travel blog, and not have to upload pictures somewhere else *twice*! So check out my Photos page and you will see the pictures I’ve uploaded so far with all my travels! Many are missing because I haven’t updated before I joined Facebook, but eventually I should be able to do so.
:D

Paris, France

So I finally got to go to Paris! I took the Eurostar down from London St. Pancras (which was really nice), and it only took me about 2.5 hours. It’s pretty amazing you can get there so quickly, and it wasn’t too expensive.
My trip was only for 2 days to help out one our office there and the only downfall being that I couldn’t really do much after work. But luckily Nordine, our sales guy there, was able to drive me around to get a small taste of the city and see the sites, even if it was ever so quick. I did take some pictures, and am uploading them tonight as I write this…

I do need to plan a proper vacation/holiday with my boyfriend on a long weekend :) Then I can really write about it and take nicer pictures!
To be continued… ^.^

Chicken

Chicken, originally uploaded by BinaryDigit.

Ah yes, this is the next door neighbor’s cat. I do love his company :) He’s very cheeky since he’s very curious and likes to snoop around the house whenever the door is open and he feels like it! But I never mind :) I love the company. He’s so cute!

As you can see I’m having trouble using my computer because he made himself very comfortable. :P

Raspberries

We have a small garden/backyard in the house that we are renting. My boyfriend’s mother found some nice raspberries on the raspberry tree :) It’s really cute…

Baby Raspberries…

All done! They were yummy.
Finished Raspberries!

And yay for another very nice weather Sunday. =)

To Do List

I have so many pictures. Most are on Facebook. Do I bother making a gallery on this local website to show them? Or do I just update as I go from this point forward? I need a major To Do list!

Denmark

So my business trip to Denmark was great! I went with my co-worker who is, seriously, one of the “funnest” girls I’ve ever met! (The other is my other co-worker whom I haven’t traveled with yet.) Besides actual work (which we both do different jobs) we just laughed and made some fun memories. The people are SO nice… coming up to you and saying “Hi!” followed by “Who are you?”. I kept wanting to look back and say “You talkin’ to me?”, but yes, they were talking to me. I’m not used to that at all… especially in New York. In England its not common either… just a friendly hello MAYBE if you get introduced by someone. But no, in this small island of Bornholm in the eastmost region of Denmark, everyone is super nice. We had a catered lunch every day (not used to that either at a TV station) which was the loveliest of food…salads, fish, the softest, freshest bread you’d ever eat, and no fake stuff like soda or juice.. just water to drink and a coffee if you so choose.

One of my main adventures was driving a manual gearbox. Yes, me, finally driving like I’ve wanted to, with a purpose, NEEDING to, (instead of the every now and again driving a few miles in the UK) drive, and not killing the passenger with me :P Poor Kristy, she had alot of patience with my stalling, rolling, and mis-shifting during the week. At least we were driving on the right side of the road, which is the same as the American side, which I was used to. It’s not even that I have a problem with the left side of the road as in England; my obstacle was just practicing with the gearbox. Obviously I got better as the week went, but man, I feel bad for the little Peugeot 4 door that we rented! Now I feel fully comfortable driving a manual (I always drove automatic back in America), and sort of wish I could drive more often here back “home” in England…but normally I walk to work, the grocery store and the gym. I’ll just take charge with driving when we go anywhere on the weekend…I know my boyfriend won’t mind since he drives everyday to work anyway; it gives him a break.

My co-worker Kristy and I pretty much saw the entire island during our week stay in Bornholm. We stayed in Aakirkeby, and each evening aimed to see another part of the island. At the south east end, there are beautiful beaches, where the sand is so light and fine that they use it for hourglasses. At the north west end, the cliffs are huge, and there is a ruin of a medieval fort called Hammersus. It was really cool. We also met up with a student of ours at the local pub, having laughs and meeting new people, who all have unique stories on how they either grew up in Bornholm or how they ended up there (Danish parents, or left and came back). It’s great meeting people when you travel. You realize how big (or small, really) the world is, and how much you don’t have in common with people, yet you do.

Anyway, all in all it was a nice experience. I am sure Bornholm is a big tourist attraction with its lovely beaches and weather in the summertime. I hope to post a couple of pictures on here when I test some gallery plugins. For now I can attach some photos when I transfer them tomorrow.

:)

Travel - Denmark

Having an adventure here in Denmark… and lets say I will be a pro at driving manual by the end of the week!! Read over at my other blog for the details! hah :D

Right…I’ve completed my entry over at my other blog, so read on. Also I’ve decided to put the RSS feed into a widget so that readers know when it’s been updated!

Denmark

I need to update my blog about Denmark! I hope to sit down tonight and write a bit. Stay put.

Visiting Home

Ah yes, nothing like visiting home! I went to Boston last Friday to see my brother graduate college…I’m so very proud of him! I liked Boston as well, and I’m a bit sad I have no one to visit there anymore! But I’m sure a road trip with friends won’t be out of the question.
After Saturday, we all drove back down to NY since my brother moved back home. I was able to hang out with all my friends, as well as eat all my “American food” that I can’t get in England (or I can, but it’s not quite the same!) This includes, Puerto Rican/mom’s homemade food, my aunt’s lasagna, Chinese, Korean, cheeseburger, hot dog, a local Italian restaurant that I always go to with my friends, and any other random things that I can’t get here. Yes I know, it’s a strange list, but I’m allowed :)
I also went to the city on Friday night with my friends to the Gotham Comedy Club in Manhattan. It was fantastic! Saw the comedian Gabriel Iglesias. If you ever see him in town, go watch. =) During the week I bought some random bits and pieces; some Blu-ray HDDVDs, headphones, a shirt or two, and a couple of gifts.
All in all it was a much needed vacation :) I slept for about 10 hours last night after not getting any sleep on the plane! Ugh. But I’m ok today. Time to get back into my usual swing of things!

Madrid, Spain

For work I was required to visit Madrid this past Tuesday. Besides work itself, which went fine, I was able to see a tiny bit of the city…and what a beautiful city it is! There is so much history to it that I don’t know about. I know more about English history since I’ve traveled and lived here for a few months, but it’s a shame I don’t know my Spanish history (since I’m sure I have ancestors from here). I wish I was able to take pictures, but I was working the whole time, and since it rained when I was out at night, I couldn’t even take pictures then! Very annoying. I’m sure I’ll be back on a proper holiday to get my sightseeing in :)

I know now why I love coffee. It runs in my blood. I have the very BEST coffee in Spain. It’s very strong, and very good. I was even ashamed to ask for a cafe con leche (coffee with milk) instead of a cafe solo (coffee alone… or black)!

Coffee from Madrid

Even the coffee from the machine at the TV studio was amazing!
Coffee Machine
Sad that I took only those pictures from my phone…but ah well, at least I can blog about this all. I think I would have more to blog if I had my eee pc with me instead of the work laptop.

The people of Spain are also very happy. I love that. They love to eat, drink and be merry. Dinner doesn’t begin before 9pm, and lunch is a full meal including starter, main, and dessert. Fabulous! My kind of country. All the women are thin and fit. The men aren’t too bad as well. I think it’s the way the food is prepared… non of this American junk fast food that is corrupting our bodies. Of course in America people have the choice to not eat that stuff, but granted, it’s convenient, and we overwork ourselves. Like my co-worker said, I think America is in the food industry to be a business, not culture. With European counties, the food is part of the culture…not about making money. This is something I think we need to change in the States. Also, we need to eliminate the cheap, quick high fat way all meals are cooked. But the world is not perfect. Sadly in the UK the younger generation are suffering the consequences of the fast food industry with all the KFC, McDonalds, and the like popping around the country more and more. It’s really unfortunate. I changed my mind now that I’m going to visit home for a week. I had said that I want to eat all the things I miss… (pizza, bagels, chinese food) but I won’t do that now. Or if I do, that will be the only meal I eat for the day. It’s all about portion control as well (which difficult when the value for the food is so good and cheap), but my stomach has shrunk now that I’ve been in Europe for a while. We’ll see what happens next week!
Wow that was an aside! Anyway, I guess I will post more this weekend. Flying to Boston tonight!
